Primal Quest – The Cave of Our People – Session Report #01

This last Thursday I went to Game of Boards (our FLGS) again, and was ready to continue our Primal Quest campaign and test the stuff I am making for The Tower That Fell adventure for the second issue of The Primal World of Thaia zine (I have the first 5 issues planned). The adventure will also be available in an early release format for Old Skull Publishing newsletter subscribers, and for those who choose to pay the asking price for Primal Quest – Essentials, the game rules that will be released as a PWYW product in a couple of weeks.

However, various Random Encounters and the heavy rain prevented half the group from showing up, so we decided to playtest The Cave Of Our People, a Dreamcrawl introductory adventure (and character creation funnel in the future) with the 3 folks that showed up just for fun. It wouldn’t directly affect what’s going in the game, and the new characters could become allies and future replacements when their main characters (or if) they die.

So I handed them each a blank Primal Quest character sheet made by @LicopeoArt and began explaining what we were doing and what the adventure is about (and will do the same with you, dear reader).

Primal Quest – The Mother’s Vale – Session Report #03

After two weeks without a game, I was super anxious for this session of our Primal Quest campaign! We gathered back at our friendly local store, Game of Boards, and all hell broke loose! To read the previous session’s report, click here.

This session we got 2 new players, for a total of 6, so the group is pretty much full for now, but since people come and go, we can occasionally have some special guests to play with us too. But let’s take a look at what kind of characters they made!

One of them created a character named Todon, a Hunchback Pariah from another distant tribe that was welcomed by the People of the Vele. He seeks acceptance, has a big heart, a pet marsupial and strong bones.

The other went for something unorthodox, he created a character named Lucavi Victorius, a stranded Time Traveller who is adept at improvisation and jury rigging, and is a bit of a conman.

The Primal World of Thaia – 10 Characteristics of Thaia – Part I

Thaia is the name most of the free people of the world call their home world. The name’s origin is unknown, but some sages among the People of the Vale say it means our earth in the language of the Ancients.

This is a world of stone and sorcery weird adventures, inspired by pulp literature, mythic stone age stories depicted in pop culture, and the old-school spirit of adventure games. There are cavemen, dinosaurs, prehistoric animals, monsters, aliens, time travelers and much more! So, to convey a better idea of how The Primal World of Thaia really is, we created a list of 10 Traits of Thaia.

Primal Quest is Coming! + Playtest Report!

I don’t know if you know this, but I am designing a new game, and a new zine. Yeah, I know, I should focus on something, right? But listen to me, this is going to be a really good, and I will focus on this!

I am talking about my new project, Primal Quest + The Primal World of Thaia! A combo of a new streamlined rule set for Weird Stone & Sorcery adventure, that is an incredibly versatile and nuanced system that is perfect for adventure games, and a Zine for it, to develop the setting, provide adventures, optional rules and much more! The game’s influences count games such as FATE, Into the Odd, Classic OSR Systems, Modern OSR Systems, Genesys, my own stuff, and much more. Let me share with you a quick blurb about it.
